400,400 Pound Boiler Lifts
Three boilers were delivered horizontally to Deep South’s 500-ton hydraulic gantry system that was setup outside of the plant. The boilers were lifted and trans-loaded onto 12-line double-wide Scheuerle SPMTs and transported into the Southwest petrochemical refinery through a very congested unit.
Deep South then set them onto their foundations using two 500-ton Liebherr LTM 1400-7.1s and a 265-ton Liebherr LTM 1220-5.1. Each boiler weighed 400,400 pounds and was 52’ long, 13’ wide, and 26’ high.

Deep South lifted and set double-rail bridge truss sections weighing 800,000 pounds each along a railroad line that crosses the Tug Fork River at Hatfield Bottom near Matewan, WV. Our crews engineered and fabricated custom lifting beams suitable for removing the existing truss bridges and lifting the new bridge spans into place and used our 1,760-ton capacity Terex-Demag CC-8800-1 crawler crane.
