Precision Lifts in Tight Quarters

Deep South was tasked to move, lift, and set several large components as part of a larger, multi-phase project for a refinery customer in the Southwest. The components included two condensers weighing 227,000 pounds each and two ethane flash drums weighing 178,000 pounds each. The condensers measured 43’-8.5” L x 6’-7.5” W x 10’-5” H, while the drums measured 57’-10” L x 13’-3” W x 15’-9” H.

To navigate road construction along the chosen travel route, the team utilized a 16-axle-line Goldhofer over-the-road trailer.

Upon arrival at the facility, the components were staged and moved into position with the 6-axle-line self-propelled Goldhofer, preparing them for lifting and setting. This operation required extensive engineering and close collaboration in the field to ensure the cranes could fit and operate effectively in the confined space.

For the lifting operations, Deep South’s team used a 770-ton Liebherr LTM 1650-8.1 in conjunction with a 1,320-ton Terex AC-1000.
