DSCR Introduces New 1,000-ton VersaCrane CC-12000 Crawler
Posted: 02/16/2015
Baton Rouge, LA – Deep South Crane & Rigging has added a VersaCrane CC-12000 to its fleet of lifting equipment, now numbering more than 200 pieces. All components of the VersaCrane CC-12000 are engineered and fabricated at the Deep South Baton Rouge facility by a team of certified engineers and experienced craftsmen.
The 1,000-ton VersaCrane CC-12000 retains all the prior innovations found in the original VersaCrane, with the addition of crawler tracks that allow the crane to change positions easily. It is ideal for projects with limited space for maneuvering equipment and with restrictions on ground-bearing pressure. The crane was designed to address the growing need for heavy lift cranes as the marketplace evolves and demands for handling larger cargo and equipment increases.
Deep South operates an exceptional fleet of cranes, including the VersaCrane line, to provide versatility and strength to meet customers’ challenges. The VersaCrane line is unique in the cranes’ ability to add value to projects with limited space and ground bearing restrictions. The addition of the CC-12000, designed for use in heavy civil work in refineries, chemical plants, and other special applications, allows the crane to move from position to position on the project site without partial dismantling. Avoiding the need to dismantle the crane to move it around the site will save both time and money on a project.
“Project cargo and vessels continue to grow in size, and the crane and rigging industry must continue to evolve to meet those demands. The CC-12000 was designed to provide Deep South’s customers with an additional option to complete complex projects requiring crawler capabilities,” said Mitch Landry of Deep South Crane & Rigging. “The patented compact design allows the crane to perform in crowded and congested areas.”
The crane has been used successfully on two job sites, and is still in operation at one. On these projects, use of the VersaCrane CC-12000 allowed the operators to build in narrow spaces, avoid power line and pipe rack obstructions and handle delivery and rough set of all items over 50 tons in extreme cold and high winds.
Deep South is able to make arrangements for potential customers to see the VersaCrane CC-12000 at work. For more information on the VersaCrane CC-12000 and the rest of the Deep South Crane and Rigging lines of cranes, please visit https://deepsouthcrane.com/equipment/versacrane.

Assembling the 1,500T VersaCrane™ TC-24000 off site and moving it via SPMT saved this client 15 days of downtime and allowed the refinery unit to run at full capacity until unit shutdown. During the scheduled outage, Deep South was tasked to replace two coke drums, each weighed 452,800 lbs and were 19’-2” outside diameter and 96’-0” long and were comparable in size and weight to the old drums.
