A vehicle manufacturer’s large stamping press—a massive machine used for shaping body panels—is online and operational thanks to efficient installation by Deep South. The three primary components included a 181-ton press bed (27.72’ L x 16.4’ W x 13.12’ H), 250-ton press crown (28.38’ L x 16.4’ W x 13.12’ H) and a 92-ton press slide (21’ x 10.83’ x 10.5’).

Many Lifts, One Solution: Modular Lift System Flexes Hydraulic Muscles During Process Plant Overhaul

Deep South crews were challenged to haul, lift, and set 84 modules, including three towers (one measuring 100’ long, 350,000 lbs.) as well as various pieces of process equipment, such as piping, tanks, PDC buildings, and transformers—all within a tight schedule. Many of the modules had offset centers of gravity further complicating the lift and set.

Deep South was contracted to provide turnkey transportation and field erection services as part of a grassroots fertilizer project at a plant in Western Iowa. Over this 15-month period more than 150 pieces of plant equipment were successfully transported and erected.
