Deep South Crane & Rigging is seeking a Civil Structural Engineer with a Professional Engineering (PE) license to join our VersaCrane design team in Baton Rouge, LA. This position is ideal for a seasoned engineer who excels in guiding innovative design, driving technical excellence, and mentoring engineering staff. You will take ownership of structural design projects from concept through fabrication and testing—playing a pivotal role in the next generation of proprietary heavy-lift equipment.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Lead structural design and engineering efforts for heavy-lift equipment and attachments
- Guide junior engineers and review technical work for accuracy and compliance
- Develop 3D models and fabrication drawings using CAD tools
- Oversee structural analysis, design validation, and field performance evaluations
- Coordinate closely with fabrication, project management, and field operations teams
- Ensure designs comply with applicable ASME, SAE, and AISC standards
- Drive innovation in structural solutions that enhance performance and cost efficiency
- Represent the engineering team in cross-departmental planning and execution meetings
- Support the continuous improvement of internal engineering processes and tools
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor’s degree in Civil or Structural Engineering
- Professional Engineering (PE) License in good standing
- 5+ years of progressive structural engineering experience, preferably in heavy equipment or crane design
- Proficiency in AutoCAD and Microsoft Office
- Experience with Autodesk Inventor or other 3D CAD software – preferred
- Strong working knowledge of ASME, AISC, and SAE design codes
- Highly motivated, detail-oriented, and team-focused
