The Business Development Specialist will be responsible for tasks such as lead generation, market research, customer service, and utilizing analytical skills. The role involves developing strategic partnerships and driving business growth through effective communication. The position will require some out-of-town travel to visit clients, job sites, as well as trade association events. PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Developing strategy to penetrate new geographic locations and/or potential customer base
- Establish new business relationships with new clients and maintain and good relationship with current clients
- Conducts thorough analysis and market research to identify potential clients and projects
- By using Lead Generation, the candidate identifies potential customers and collecting information about them. This will require a combination of various responsibilities, such as conducting market research, creating and implementing strategies, and maintaining and updating lead databases
- Building further knowledge in some of our target or future targeted industries including refineries, petrochemical, power, wind, civil, rail, pulp and paper, and other heavy industries
- Works closely with internal teams, including engineering, estimating, project management, and finance, to ensure seamless project execution and delivery
- Obtaining knowledge of and proficiency in Deep South’s heavy haul, crane, and specialty equipment tools and how they are best used to provide customer solutions.
- Participation in industry trade shows and other events deemed key to develop customer relationships, which sometimes occur outside normal business work hours.
- Not required but preferred if applicant can perform job walks as needed to gather information needed for solution development as well as bidding future jobs
QUALIFICATIONS:
- College or engineering degree is preferred or relevant prior industry experience
- Sales experience/Customer Service within the Heavy Civil Construction industry is preferred but not required
- Must have public speaking skills and presentation experience
- Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to multi-task at all levels with colleagues and customers
- Ability to travel as needed – required to have a passing/clean driving record
- Must be proficient in Microsoft Office products – specifically Word, Excel, and Outlook
