400,400 Pound Boiler Lifts
Three boilers were delivered horizontally to Deep South’s 500-ton hydraulic gantry system that was setup outside of the plant. The boilers were lifted and trans-loaded onto 12-line double-wide Scheuerle SPMTs and transported into the Southwest petrochemical refinery through a very congested unit.
Deep South then set them onto their foundations using two 500-ton Liebherr LTM 1400-7.1s and a 265-ton Liebherr LTM 1220-5.1. Each boiler weighed 400,400 pounds and was 52’ long, 13’ wide, and 26’ high.

The Deep South team was tasked to receive, transport and set a 790,025-pound debutanizer. This specialized distillation column measures 174’-3” long with a 21’-3” diameter. The debutanizer was received from an ocean-going vessel at the Port of New Orleans. Once cleared through customs, the debutanizer was loaded on a barge and pushed to a roll-off site 8 hours upriver, and prepared for transport to the refinery.
